OPDL Trials

As an OPDL License Holder, Pickering Soccer Club are required to conduct player trials following the trial phases outlined below:

  1. Pickering SC will not charge a player for a fee to attend Open Trials for our OPDL teams.
  2. Players may attend more than one open trial simultaneously with different OPDL License Holders but must be aware roster positions will begin after the first trial with PSC.
  3. Non-OPDL Players or players who have received permission from their present OPDL Technical Director may attend training sessions. (SEE WEEK of SEPT 16, 2019 TRAINING SCHEDULE)

U13 TRIALS

  1. All Players attending the open house for OPDL must be REGISTERED FOR A TRIAL prior to attending their first trial.
  2. 2019 members of Pickering SC must also complete the trial registration prior to attending as per OPDL rules of no ‘walk up evaluations’.
  3. Players should attend trials early in the process as selections can begin after the first trial session.
  4. All players are permitted a minimum of 3 trial sessions before a final decision will be made. All players need to feel comfortable enough to showcase their abilities.
  5. When players are selected, players are expected to attend the remaining trial sessions.
  6. Offers of roster positions (play) will have an acceptance deadline and will be sent via email by the High Performance Manager(s) and will include complete registration instructions.
  7. Players not selected to the OPDL roster may be offered a position on our u13 CSL Team for 2020 and will be monitored to be called up to OPDL.
  8. Players may attend training sessions until the final roster has been declared. PSC will only select players we feel who have developed thus far to play in a high performance level.

Phase II – OPDL Players

  • Objective: Select Full Time Players
  • Activity: Open Trials and Invitation Only Trial
  • Period: September 30th to December 31 st 2019

PLAYERS CURRENTLY REGISTERED AS OPDL PLAYERS FOR 2019, ARE PERMITTED TO ATTEND TRIALS ONLY IF THEY HOLD A SIGNED TRIAL PERMISSION FORM FROM THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR OF YOUR PREVIOUS OPDL CLUB/LICENSEE.

U14-U17 TRIALS

  1. All Players attending the open house for OPDL must be REGISTERED FOR A TRIAL prior to attending their first trial.
  2. Player commitment letters can be completed and signed between a player and an OPDL License Holder at any time before the registration deadline for the upcoming year.
  3. At the discretion of the Pickering Soccer Club Director of Soccer Operations, players presently registered with an OPDL Team, may be offered an OPDL Commitment Letter without participating in an OPDL Trial.
  4. Player commitments can be renewed between an existing OPDL player and an OPDL License Holder, after October 1st of the current year and before the registration deadline.
  5. An OPDL Player is defined as a player that has been assigned to an OPDL team in 2019, on any roster.
  6. OPDL Player Commitments are valid until December 31st of each year and do not seize upon conclusion of the competition season.
  7. Any OPDL player trialing with another License Holder must be in possession of a completed OPDL Trial Permission Form (Please see below) in order to be eligible to attend trials with another organization.
    1. Upon receiving a request to complete the OPDL Trial Permission Form, Technical Directors shall respond within 72 hours.
    2. Failing to respond, will result on the player permission to attend trials with another License Holder.
    3. As a license holder Pickering SC will not accept participation of a current OPDL player at their trials without an OPDL Trial Permission Form or proof of request submitted without response.

Phase III – Any player REQUIRED ONLY IF ROSTER POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE

  • Objective: Identify additional players, if applicable
  • Activity: Open Trials and Invitation Only Trial
  • Period: January 1st to April 15th, 2020
