Soccer in Schools

Program Purpose

The Pickering Soccer Club’s newest program, Building Community and Social Inclusion through Soccer, will develop young leaders by funding the delivery of FUNdamental coach and referee certification courses to grade 11 and 12 students in the City of Pickering.

Once qualified, the new coaches and referees will deliver a block of sessions in local elementary schools connecting young children with older peers/ role models. The program will culminate in an elementary schools festival, for students of all abilities, to be planned, delivered, coached, and officiated by the high school students.

The high school students will be mentored during this process by our School’s Coordinator, Maddie Iozzi, who will assist them in session planning, organization, and mentoring.

About Maddie

Uniquely qualified, Maddie has a strong background within the school system south of the border while completing her schooling and a Masters in inclusive education. Maddie has played at many levels with PSC including, most recently, our League One Women’s team.
