GrassRoots (Ages 6-8)

The focus of the Pickering Soccer Club GrassRoots Academy program is to support the development of aspiring young players who have a passion for the game of soccer and possess the drive and dedication to become a PSC Elite soccer player.  We will provide an opportunity for elite players to enhance their soccer skills in a dedicated and challenging learning environment, while encouraging teamwork, self-discipline and fair play.  The program will be based on the COERVER Coaching Player Development Program and will focus on the following activities:

Ball Mastery / Passing and Receiving / Moves 1 vs 1 - Tricks and Feints with the ball / Small Sided game

The PSC GrassRoots Academy Program will begin in the fall/winter season (dates to be advised) at the Metrosport facility in Scarborough until the end of April. Some blackout dates apply (e.g. Christmas and March Break).  Training sessions will be directed by the Clubs Academy / Mentor coaches with the purpose of developing skills preparation for the 2010 outdoor season.

There will be two types of sessions:

     1. A whole group practice consisting of individual skills sessions for 20 to 30 minutes, followed by two age-specific sessions.

     2. Occasionally we will hold age-specific tactical sessions followed by a game.  This plan is based on sufficient participation from players of both age groups

(minimum of 14 per age group).

The cost of the programs is dependent on the number of participants. Many of the Academy participants are already in the program and players will be invited from the All-Star training sessions.  New players are welcome - subject to availability.
